Katikati College Brings Home a Prize!!!!
On Friday the 31st July the college Concert Band and the Jazz Band went to Waikato University to compete in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Bands Competition. There were 19 bands in each category and bands were ranked according to ability - ie no ranking, bronze, silver and gold. Prizes were given out to each catergory of 1st, 2nd and two merits.
In 2007 our Concert band first entered this competition and were given a bronze ranking, in 2008 we made it a silver. For 2009 we again gained a silver ranking but were also placed with a Merit Award for the Concert Band category.
Our Jazz Band first competed last year and gained a bronze ranking which they retained again for 2009.
An awesome day was had by all and we have now set a solid standard from which to grow for both band.
