Optical illusions

The other day my Year 9 class was entranced by the chalk drawing optical illusions by Julian Beever. Below you can see a video clip of some of his best known works. If you would like to see even more of them, click on this link.

Julian Beever distorts an image by stretching it out so that it appears 3-dimensional when viewed from a certain angle. If you go to the link in the paragraph above this and look at the thumbnails in the 3rd and 4th columns of the 4th row across, you’ll see what I mean. Fantastic!

For classic optical illusions, click here to revisit the Echalk site we looked at the other day. This site also has hundreds of fascinating illusions.
